A shower of blessings!

Tuesday night our daughter had a baby shower.  In Prince Albert.

This was to be a “money” shower!  The idea was to provide enough to buy a crib.  She got enough to buy more than one crib, plus some gifts were also brought.

The shower saw around 47 ladies attend.  I’m not a “shower goer”, but I understand that is a good showing.

Some came to see Jill, others for the baby’s sake.  We had driven up on Tuesday afternoon and headed back Wednesday morning.  A quick visit (sorry we didn’t get to see all of you in PA!).

Back on Wednesday night, I was invited to attend a Kindersley Junior Klippers hockey game.  They lost 3-1, but just being in the rink was enjoyable.  The crowd was small (Klippers are not on a winning streak).  As someone mentioned – this is when the true fans hang out!

97% or Who Runs Your Heart?

Today we ventured to the Heart Pacemaker Clinic in Saskatoon — two hours in, two hours back!

This year, we celebrate 35 years of battery power for Jill’s heart.  The technician checked the current battery’s status and functioning.  With the printout comes an assessment of who’s running her heart.  3% of the time, her heart is on its own!  97% of the time battery powered electrical impulses keep her blood running and her heart ticking.

Got me to thinking!

Who powers my heart?  Figuratively!

How much of the time do I run on my own power?  How much of the time does God’s power take over?

Let me be honest!    Some days I think I dip down into the lower percentages.  And other days I find the joy of the higher regions.

Am I at 97%?  Probably not!  I hope I’m edging that way, because I would love to be a 100 percenter!!!

Bunny Trails

Two days ago we saw the Bunny!!

When it snowed back in the fall (imagine, I can even remember back that far!) we saw pawprints.

Two big, then two small, hopped over by two big, then two small paws.  Our imaginations started creating images of what this creature was.  I knew it wasn’t dappled, like one Josiah saw!  He had to be big, tall, a hare of some sort.

Then we saw him.  Out the window of the back door.  I rushed to get my camera but was too late.  He’s too fast for me.

He’s here!  But where is he?

An hour's walk – insurance and free rentals!

The weather has been above zero degrees Celsius.

So what better thing than in the late afternoon to head downtown.  We are within two blocks of the main street – the air was crisp but not chilly.  After the added pounds of Christmas a walk is always good!

At the post office a discussion is overheard about insurance coverage.  One party has received a payment for basement repairs.  Another did not qualify although their circumstances were basically the same.  One small lie and the repairs could have been paid by insurance.  In our day and age, I’m always surprised at how many do not lie – and sometimes at how many do!!

As we wandered past our local “Movie Gallery” the sign says, “free weekend rental” – one per day.  We ventured in and were informed that this was indeed true.  The interesting thing is that the clerk had memorized the spiel.  It was more fun listening to her rhyme it off, than actually finding out we could get a free rental.

I almost feel like returning, just to torment her!    “Can I really get a free rental?”
