The lenses of the camera would have been blurred.

We started with a BBQ at 5:30.  The weather was a little cool, and the clouds moving in.  The sky remained pleasing for a few minutes as we ate our hot dogs and hamburgers.

Then the breeze turned icy.  The sky blackened.  And drops began to fall.

The baseball game was scheduled for 6:30.  As we stepped on the field the drops increased.  Half way through the first inning we almost called the game.  We did call it after two innings.

Funny thing!  Once you are wet you really don’t need shelter.  The other team had been dry during the first inning.  We were beginning to drip freely.

Did we win?  We only needed one!  They won 13 – 3.  Add another 1 to our 3 and we would have been in the running.

I must admit — it was fun.  Days like this are ones you remember!!!

Back again!

Well, the conference went well.  11 hours travel one way — 11 hours back.  Stopped to see a someone with cancer on the return trip.

Today was a full day of work, as well as grouting the tile in the bathroom and setting up for other renovations.  Tomorrow is a BBQ and ballgame.

All in the life of a pastor.  Not a bad life!

Winnipeg here we come

Churches get together as churches.  Or at least, some from each church.

That’s what happens these next few days.  I’m off to our district conference.  I’ll enjoy talking to other pastors and lay people.  I’ll serve as secretary for the business sessions.  And I’ll drive four other pastors to and from the conference.

What excites me the most?  All of it!  I love business sessions.  I love talking to other pastors (we’re cooped up in a van for 10 hours — I better like the chance to chat!).  OK, the secretary thing isn’t exactly my first love, but I’ll be glad to work for those who make up this gathering.

So, this space may be dead for a few days — I’ll check and see if I can get on the internet.  If so, I’ll keep you updated!!

The bathroom!

In our basement we have a bathroom.

Not an ordinary bathroom

No — this one has no toilet, no cabinets and no door.

Why, you ask?  Or maybe you don’t ask, but I will tell you.

We are renovating.  Today we put on the last coat of paint — yellow that shines in the light and invites company.  Tomorrow we will put down flooring — linoleum that has beautiful squares imitating tile.  And the cabinets will be returned to their proper place.

So, if you are coming to visit, wait!!  At least until the bathroom is back in working order.
