For your thoughts

I’m working with a friend on a Christian manifesto.  Not a manifesto for overthrowing all that is bad around us – although that would be a result.  More a manifesto – upon finding we are oppressed, what leads to true freedom.  The pinpoint appears to be the cross of Jesus.

Any comments?

The fun of government and big business

The fun things that happen with government legislation.

With the newest “social media” bill having been passed, you cannot get to Canadian news outlets (and I use that term to cover a wide range of outlets) on Facebook.  That is a Facebook decision (basically to not pay for links that people put on directing to the outlets – purportedly because they take away advertising and do not pay royalties – that’s a whole other day’s discussion).  Prompted by a government attempt to provide authors with royalties.

So, I can’t direct you to the editorial I place in Kindersley Social print editions – or at least the link to the print editions.  If I put on the website address it will not allow me to use the address.  So, you need to go directly to Kindersley Social website to see my writing.  Which is not a bad thing.  But as with any marketing, the quick click when you come across a mention is much easier than remembering to head to the website of the news outlet at a later point.

Just for the fun of it all, I invite you to head to the website of Kindersley Social (which really began as more of a social contact space and then moved on to help people find news that was relevant to the area).  Look for a tab called Print Archives.  If you open the archives, I provide an editorial in each print edition on the third page.

Enjoy!

Small Group

I suppose small groups have been around for years.  As a child living in Moose Jaw, our parents had a neighbourhood group – the Hannah’s, Reimer’s, Butt’s, Tollefson’s, Klassen’s.  Not that the group was as organized as happens nowadays.  We just knew, as kids, that they were friends.  As it happened, we all attended the same church.

Yesterday we met with another small group.  Four families are represented.  We shared our life’s happenings and worked through some thoughts on advancing our lives.  I haven’t stopped to count all the other small groups over the past six decades.  Choirs, Bible Studies, Projects, Age-dated groups, Neighbourhood,  ministry, relative groups and so many other types.

From my own experience, you need others.  And others need you.

Picture for the day:  And just around the corner!!  I wonder what this year will hold.  This was last year when we “lost” our van in our own driveway.

Simple Faith

25 years ago I helped produce a CD.  Back then we probably called the product an “album”.

The project was called “Simple Faith” – based on lyrics and melodies by Rob Ardell.  The irony was that the vocalists and musicians were anything but simple.  We came from varied backgrounds and lived full lives in many different spheres.

As I grow older, I see the advantage of simple.  Or at least focused and fierce in my faith.  Trusting in God’s grace and obeying God’s commands in all I do.  That’s simple and amazingly complex at the same time.
