We started with just a few.  The numbers grew.

Meatballs, salad and gravy too.  A bit of other goodies too.

And then they are gone.

Great time!

Wind chill

Today was supposed to feel like -40 degrees, with the wind chill.

As we stood at the grocery store an obviousness arose.  Or should I say, swept across us.  Our gloved fingers began to freeze.  Our exposed faces became like ice.  Our slow steps sped as fast as we could.

For those who live in warm climes — we plugged in our car.

Now, that has to do with electricity — true!  Actually, we have a heater that sits in oil.  The oil is on the inside of our car’s motor.  When the oil is warm, the car is satisfied.  With a groan, it will come to life.

If the car is not plugged in, the oil is sluggish, the engine is unresponsive and you look rather like a fool trying to start the car.

Who says living north of the 49th doesn’t have it’s days?

And today was one of them!!

The equipment for a kids program (iKids) was made available to our youth group tonight.  5 large screen TV’s with video games.  The director of the program completed our evening with thoughts on using our talents to do what God wants us to do.

Not a bad evening with something to think about for both the kids and the adults!!

Text messaging

I’ve held off for the last while.

Watching those who receive a text message and then reply as they keep up a conversation with you.

Funny thing.  That’s exactly what I did today.

I could justify it by saying that I’m new to this thing.  Or that I really needed to get back to the person. Or that . . .

Having said all this, I lost my head.  Off I went.  And with my text messaging, I sat across from another diner.  While he finished his chicken fettucine Alfredo, I tried to put together a text message (it took that long).  After I was finished the text message, I was left to eat by myself, with the bodies across the table staring at me.

So, lesson #1.

Text message to your heart’s content, but not in front of someone.
