I am second

There is a movement that has been gathering in the wind.  The internet wind.

Called “I Am Second”, videos are available on the net.  A number of high profile people are a part of the message.  I had encountered it a year or so ago, as the website was progressing and material was just becoming available.  Now, the website www.iamsecond.com is fully functional and inviting.  For those who are web savvy, this is a notch above other sites.

The idea?  That God is first and we are second.  Jesus Christ is the entrance point to knowing the one who is first.  Over the years I’ve been a part of this invitational approach to letting others know about Jesus.  We have seen such approaches as Four Spiritual Laws, Steps to Peace with God, EE, and Alpha.

Last year our church explored The Truth Project.   A great series that is mainly geared for those who have been Christians for some time.  The I Am Second series is more for those who have not been Christians.

This Sunday, in our Family Bible School hour, I’m hoping we will have a little more discussion on this tool.  Perhaps this “next step” approach can help us in our community.  We’ll see.

Facebook

I’ve been pondering the preponderance of Facebook lately.  One of my favourite internet writers has succumbed.  Ages ago, in internet time, he started a weekly article website.  Then he moved to not just putting the article out there, but allowed for comments.  Now he has moved to Facebook as the primary place for comments.  His over 2,000 friends give a great running commentary, which I enjoy.

So, how is that?  Why the shift?  Where to next?  Or is Facebook able to maintain the front position, as Google has?

Annual Meeting

Well, I was kidded about my “rule” of not eating after 8:00 at night.  So the meeting was supposed to finish by 8:01!  We were a few minutes longer, but not much.

Good stuff!  We are headed into hiring our intern as our associate pastor when his internship is finished.  That excites me.

We’ve been waiting for the “official” word.  With tonight’s meeting we will move ahead into the expectancy of what lies ahead.  Great voyages are begun with small steps and large faith.  That’s where we are headed.  Let’s see what is ahead!

Crokinole

Our youth headed over to the seniors complex next door.  Every few months we have a crokinole tournament.  Just fun and frivolity.  We pair our teens with a senior.  They play together and coffee together afterwards.  Its one way to get to know people across the generational gap.   Which really isn’t much of a gap when you watch them playing crokinole together!

Good times had by all – around 50 of us out!!
