How’s that?

Since when do church programs have more males than females?

Well, I was at our grades 5-7 program this evening.  Out of a total of 14 kids out this first week, only three were girls.

Now, our games director is a male, so he has good sense for how to deal with the guys.  Works well.

Which also bodes well for church programs in the future.  I’m always one looking for more male involvement.  So, here it is.  Give us ten years and watch out world!

One Bathroom

Now, we do have a second bathroom in our suite in the basement.  But the main bathroom has been sprouting some mould lately.  We have tried enzymes and scrub downs.  To no avail.

So, this weekend I sanded the shower area.  Found that the mould only went as far as the top coat of paint.  Was very thankful.

Then, I filled in some cracks/holes.  Covered this with plaster.  Found that the plaster job was actually fairly good – my usual phenomenon is not quite so good!  Placed a coat of primer over the plaster, two coats of paint on the wall and now we have a whole new shower area.

Tomorrow morning will be “try out” time.  With no mould growing on the wall!

Our other bathroom?  In good shape – and I hope it stays that way!

For your reading eyes

A month ago I bought a book.  By Daniel Pink called DRIVE.

The subject:  What motivates us?

Great read – if you can pick up the book, do so.  If not, take a look at this “animation” that summarizes thoughts from the book.  We used to call this the “Coles” version – but now that you can get it in video form I guess it would be the “VColes” version.  Anyways, this out.

Worship singing

As I watch interviews I often see people having a fun time and spouting some inane drivel.  Late night talk shows tend towards this type of thing.  Afternoon talk shows can drive me crazy.

But I like to listen to others when there is a nugget that sparks a new direction or thought.  Here is one on singing cross-centered songs in worship services.  The passion builds as you listen – and the thinking grows as you take time to cogitate on what is said.
