The Mundane

I awoke to snow on the ground.  A little exercise to clean this, then off to work.  Back home for a rest, then some hospital and manor visitation.  Supper and a prayer meeting.

These are occurences that could happen on any day.  So what makes each day sacred?

Simple things – like being sure our primary thoughts are on God and our activities are affected by that direction.

Not an easy thing.  Not a usual thing.  But wouldn’t it be great if this became the mundane of each day.  So that what is usual is so much better than the usual of most of our days!!

I’m not there yet, but would love to be!!

Working back to full strength does take time.

I’ve been warned by grandparents, peers and the younger generation to take my time.  But I’m finding patience is not always my long suit.  I preached on Sunday and 3/4 of the way through ran out of steam.  Today I ventured to the office and did some hospital visitation.  That was about enough.

My afternoon rest stretched for around two hours.  And that was solid sleep.  And even as I write this, later in the evening, I’m yawning and ready to rest.

Most of our lives we are pushing to complete one more thing.  One more opportunity to complete the vision we may have.  I’m learning that vision and ability need strong doses of reality.  At least in the area of timelines!!

So, good night, good sleep, may God’s rest be yours.

Delayed a Day

So, we arrived at the airport.  No Tim.  Snowstorms in Minnesota and a control tower problem in San Juan caused flights to be missed.

He should arrive Sunday afternoon — 4:24 from Minneapolis.

My son arrives tonight

As I write this, at 7:30 in the evening, I’m preparing to get in the car for a four hour drive.

Tim’s flight arrives at 10:37 tonight.  We’ll pull into the airport around 10:15 — await his arrival — climb back in the car — drive back home for 1:00.

These are time I cherish.  Not the hours!  I cherish my son and time spent with him.

So, to an opportunity to visit, chat about life and generally enjoy being together — cheers (and I’m talking about the vocal kind, not the liquid kind!).
