Well, after a full day – from polishing up a sermon, leading a service, preaching, having lunch and then off to an interview with a prospective "international worker" with the Christian and Missionary Alliance, I’m at home.
Officially I start vacation tomorrow — until January 2nd. Unofficially I’m out of my "Sunday" clothes and looking forward to a relaxing evening.
May this vacation season also see time where you can kick back and relax.
Some things disappear. Some things we think disappear. Some things seem to stay around forever.
On the internet this is especially true. Now you can check out how someone’s blog looked in past years. Or how about a company’s old home webpage? I headed over to www.archive.org and was amazed what Sears.ca looked like back in 1996. Unfortunately they do not archive some of the graphics, but the idea is still there! Even saw some entries from my own website from two years ago.
For the fun of it — this webcrawler wanders around all over the place. Try it out under their "Way Back Machine". Don’t be surprised if you can’t get on to their site right away. I have a feeling a lot of people are checking out their archives.
Which sort of shows you! People do love history. Maybe not the dry way it was taught in school. But the lively way that shows you the feeling of being "present" even though you are looking at the "past".
I wonder how our own perspectives would change on things like the life of Jesus if we could imagine ourselves to be right there in the "present" moment of the "past"?
OK, so it’s a glorified powerpoint. But I’m trying to put my song, "That’s what’s so unusual", to visuals. Tried a bunch of prairied scenes, but doesn’t quite cut it. Have to see what else I can find.
The afternoon was spent upgrading some of the computer system at work. Believe it or not (since things actually worked out), I rather enjoyed the time. Getting good equipment and combining it with software that works is a real joy.
Tonight word of another poor diagnosis. Seems whatever way you turn this time of year, health deteriorates. I constantly pray for daily health and for healing for others. I’m open to whatever God wants to do, and I’m trusting he will do far beyond what I may think or even imagine.
And last night I had a time of coffee with a friend who just encouraged me. Thanks!
