Allison, Christopher and Jill arrive

Yesterday I got into clean up mode.

I’d been renovating our bathroom over the last while.  Tools got placed "our of place", white drywall mud seeped into the cracks of the floors and walls, and furniture had been moved.

Part of the afternoon was spent in undoing the damage.  I washed floors, vacuumed everything, hung doors and replaced furniture.  The basement looked great (as great as you can look in the midst of renovations!).

Around 7:00 the gang arrived.  Christopher (my grandson) is now 1 1/2 years old.  He loves to laugh and play.  I lay on the floor, hoisted him on my knees and generally enjoyed having him here.  His mother, Allison, is doing a great job in raising him.  Her husband, Scott, will be down on the weekend to pick them up.

So, the next few days I’ll spend time with family, as well as finish  sermon, attend our church bike rally, and prepare for our church picnic.  All in all, the weekend looks to be great!

Ahead to Father's Day

In the midst of busyness, I’m glad for designated days.

Although we have gathered together mementos for our Father’s Day service, other things are crowding my mind.

I received an email today — an update on Promise Keepers.  Embedded in the text was a link to a video on a Father’s blessing.  Although I have been blessed constantly by my father, this was a good reminder.  We older men need to be blessing younger men.  Reminding them that they are loved.

So, I sent off an email to my own son, and I hope to bless a number of other men in the next few days.  Just to let them know that God loves them, and that I support them in their endevours in life.  They are not alone — God has handcrafted them for his purposes!

Look around for those you can encourage today with your blessing.

Seniors housing moving along!

This evening, at the Elks hall, the next step was taken.

Caleb Group came with a proposal for the seniors housing project in Kindersley.  They had listened to comments made in the past months.  There are stoves (that can be turned off) in each apartment, and a washer and dryer.  Showers and baths are available in a new and unique enclosure.

Apartments run up to $3600/month (these are with meals and all amenities included).  Smaller apartments are in the upper teens.  Condos start around $150,000 (don’t quote me – you can get the quotes from Ron Falsted who is in Kindersley for the next two months or so).  And even 12 townhouses are planned.

If you look out the fourth story window you will be able to see the endless expanse of prairies, perhaps the water from our local dam, and possibly the roof of the Kindersley Alliance church.  One person was here seeing what we were doing, and considering how that might work in his home community of Prince Albert.

Exciting days ahead.  Let’s see what God has in store!!

Picture this!

The lenses of the camera would have been blurred.

We started with a BBQ at 5:30.  The weather was a little cool, and the clouds moving in.  The sky remained pleasing for a few minutes as we ate our hot dogs and hamburgers.

Then the breeze turned icy.  The sky blackened.  And drops began to fall.

The baseball game was scheduled for 6:30.  As we stepped on the field the drops increased.  Half way through the first inning we almost called the game.  We did call it after two innings.

Funny thing!  Once you are wet you really don’t need shelter.  The other team had been dry during the first inning.  We were beginning to drip freely.

Did we win?  We only needed one!  They won 13 – 3.  Add another 1 to our 3 and we would have been in the running.

I must admit — it was fun.  Days like this are ones you remember!!!
