French bread.
Should be elongated – mine was fat.
Should have small slits on top – mine were a little deeper.
Should have risen nicely – mine rose a bit.
But, if at first you don’t succeed, change your expectations? I think not! I’ll try again in the near future. And soon you will all want to be visiting just to savour the flavour of great bread!!

When we were in Bible school one of our elderly professors was trying to make an important spiritual point about something and unfortunately answered one of my husband’s challenges to his point with the expression, “But Dell, what happens if you rub the cat the wrong way?” My husband replied, “Well sir, not to be disrespectful sir, but in that case you need to turn the cat around.” So, changing your expectations isn’t always a bad thing according to him. All the best with attempt number 2 but I bet attempt number 1 tastes just fine.
