Sunday morning I felt a bit raw. My throat was sore in the afternoon.
By Monday morning I knew for sure. This morning, Tuesday, I’m in throes of the "cold". A bit achy and low voiced.
A little prayer, a little Coricidin II and we’ll see how life goes!!
NO, I’m not about to become a cook.
But I am working with a group that has a program scheduled in mid October. The hall is just around the corner. The catering is still being decided.
Today I checked out the hall. Just to see what was in the kitchen. I took my wife. Just to see what is in the kitchen. Her eyes are twice as good as mine.
The area has three stoves, two dishwashers and a microwave. Lots of cutlery and plates. Coffee urns and tea pots. Three stainless sinks, two entrance doors and a power panel in the basement! (try that to the tune of the 12 days of Christmas).
The funny thing? I felt like becoming a caterer. There is just something about the event — the meeting that is planned — that makes me want to be a part of it. Perhaps in a front row capacity. But, today, I just wanted to be the one serving in the background, bringing out food plates and making sure everyone who attends is full and enjoying the event.
But I’m not a cook. I learned how to boil eggs this summer (and even that as a bit of a disaster).
So, I’ll keep my day job and dream about being a caterer!!
So, here we are — sitting around. Our house guest, Melinda, wants to record some songs on Nebraska. My wife will play piano and she can sing them to relatives when she visits in the next few days.
A few song books come out. While I am out at a meeting, Jill records the songs. Melinda makes sure her tape recorder is ready to go. She’ll have a good time with her relatives.
Which got me thinking — how many Saskatchewan songs are there? I guess during the Centennial there was the "Saskatchewan song" — never seemed to catch on. Saskatoon has more tributes in song. Of course, you have Joni Mitchell and Wide Mouth Mason from Saskatoon. And Connie Caldor loves to sing of Saskatchewan.
But an official Saskatchewan song? I guess my vote would go for the Saskatchewan Roughriders football team song "On, Roughriders". Not quite a civilized Saskatchewan son, but memorable!!

Saturday was a combined 50th anniversary party. Glen and Lorraine Sitter and Bruce and Freda Baker. Glen and Freda are brother and sister. Both were married in 1957. A few months apart. But due to circumstances, Freda had been unable to be at her brother’s wedding.
50 years later they were able to be at each other’s anniversaries. The afternoon was a come and go tea with lots of guests. The evening was close relatives for a BBQ. The food was great — I enjoyed it with my parents and others seated in the beautiful outdoors of Glen’s acreage.
